School
Training Chattanooga's dancers for 47 years.
Since 1973 the School has enriched the city of Chattanooga by nurturing a love of ballet in a supportive environment that educates and sustains dancers’ passions. Through classes in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Teen/Adult Ballet and a growing Boys’ program, the School endeavors to deliver excellent training—whether a student is working towards a professional career or just loves to dance. Each student is empowered to grow and strengthen in both mind and body .

The Chattanooga Ballet School Ensemble
The Chattanooga Ballet School Ensemble is the training company of the Chattanooga Ballet School, composed of Intermediate 2-4 level dancers and above who have reached a higher level of technique and commitment.

Class Descriptions
White Leotard
White Leotard
Level I
For any 7 to 10 year olds who are interested in ballet. Students begin learning basic ballet barre and across the floor exercises. In addition to learning basic steps and terminology, dancers will begin to focus on correct technique and alignment.
Light Pink Leotard
Level 2
Prior completion of Level 1 (Grade 1) with instructor permission or equivalent is required. Students will learn more of the basic ballet barre sequence. Emphasizes proper placement, alignment, and execution of basic ballet technique at the barre and across the floor.

Level 3
Prior completion of Level 2 (Grade 2) with instructor's permission or equivalent is required. Level 3 dancers will take two classes per week. Please sign up for two of the following days: Monday, Wednesday or Saturday. Students in this level will continue to explore the basic ballet barre sequence as well as center work.
Burgundy Leotard
Level 4
Prior completion of Level 3 (Grade 3) with instructor's permission. Level 4 dancers will take two classes per week. Please sign up for two of the following days: Monday, Wednesday or Saturday. Students in this level will continue to explore the basic ballet barre sequence as well as center work. Emphasis on proper execution of basic technique and utilization of proper muscle groups.

Dancers are required to attend 4 classes per week To build additional strength and craft the artistry of the pre-professional level. One class per week has an additional half hour of pointe work. Dancers are strongly encouraged to register for the Modern and Jazz classes in addition to regular ballet classes. Black leotards Monday - Friday, any color for Saturday class and rehearsals.

Open Teen/Adult
Can't join us in the evening? This class is for teens and adults and is open to all levels. Dancers can pay for the entire semester or for a 10 class punch card. Drop in students are welcome throughout the semester at a rate of $17/class.
Contemporary
For ages 13+, this class will work to develop non-traditional movement through the basis of ballet technique. New styles of jumps, turns and floor work will develop the strength and artistry of dancers, and will provide them opportunities to explore improvisational work resulting in a complete dancer and artist. It is also a great chance for dancers to let their hair down, get grounded and have fun. Dancers taking this class will receive a 50% discount when taken alongside ballet technique classes.
Tap
Tap is a wonderful form of dance that has pulled from various cultural backgrounds to become an American art form. The benefits of tap to a ballet dancer are balance, strength and rhythm, along with providing news ways of exploring artistry. For ages 10+, this class is a fun outlet for dancers to find new ways to love the art of dance.
Kids Contemporary
This class is designed for 9-12 year olds to help dancers explore new movement, and to compliment their ballet training. Dancers will learn new ways of utilizing their ballet technique and incorporate in more grounded and alternating styles. Dancers taking this class will receive a 50% discount when taken alongside ballet technique classes.
Boys I & II
Boys I: A ballet class specifically designed for boys aged 7 to 12 who are just starting ballet. Dancers will learn ballet terminology while developing balance, coordination, flexibility, and rhythm.
Boys II: By instructor’s permission.
Builds on the foundations and principles taught in Boys I. Dancers work to expand movement vocabulary and focus on building the strength, flexibility, and balance specifically needed for men’s upper level ballet technique.
